Suicide bomber killed in Aleppo, no civilians harmed

ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – A suicide bomber detonated his explosive device on Sunday near a bakery in the al-Maysar neighborhood of Aleppo, northern Syria, killing himself while causing no other casualties, local sources reported.

North Press correspondents spoke with eyewitnesses who described seeing a young man in his twenties wearing an explosive belt detonate the device near the al-Wahda bakery along a side street in Al-Maysar.

A security source confirmed to North Press that the explosion was limited to the attacker and did not cause injuries or material damage. Preliminary information indicates the individual was of Syrian nationality.

State media outlets also reported an explosion in Aleppo resulting in at least one death, without providing additional details.

While no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, suicide bombings have been a recurring tactic of extremist organizations across Syria, targeting both military and civilian areas. Security forces in government-controlled parts of Aleppo have faced challenges in preventing sporadic attacks, despite maintaining a heavy presence in and around the city.

Local residents expressed concern over renewed violence in the area, recalling earlier incidents in Aleppo during the conflict years.

AANES officials in neighboring regions have repeatedly stressed the importance of counterterrorism measures across Syria to prevent militant groups from destabilizing urban centers.
