DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – A Jordanian company official announced on Sunday plans to supply domestic gas to Syria by receiving empty cylinders, refilling them in Jordan, and returning them across the border.
Hassan Al-Hayari, CEO of the Jordanian company, said that feasibility studies are currently underway in preparation for submitting a formal proposal to the Syrian side.
Earlier, Jordan’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Saleh al-Kharabsheh, revealed that Amman is in discussions with Damascus to also provide Syria with electricity.
He explained that the company aims to refill approximately 40,000 cylinders per day during the summer months, as domestic demand during winter takes priority.
According to al-Hayari, Jordan plans to receive the empty cylinders at the Salah al-Din gas filling station—operated by the Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company in the Al-Naeima area, north of the country—where they will be filled and then sent back to Syria.
