U.S. Special Envoy meets SDF Commander to discuss unity in Syria

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – The U.S. Embassy in Syria announced on Saturday that U.S. Special Envoy Thomas Barrack met with Mazloum Abdi, Commander in Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), to discuss the evolving situation in Syria.

According to a statement from the embassy, the meeting focused on the urgent need to take concrete steps to restore calm and promote stability across the country.

Discussions also centered on practical measures toward integrating all regions into a unified Syria, committed to peace, prosperity, inclusivity, and long-term stability.

“They agreed the time for unity is now,” the statement emphasized.

The U.S. envoy also expressed appreciation for General Mazloum’s leadership and reaffirmed Washington’s support for the continued partnership with the SDF in the ongoing fight against ISIS in Syria.

“The Ambassador also thanked General Mazloum for his leadership and the SDF’s continued partnership in combatting ISIS in Syria.”
