SDF delegation to hold talks with government under US, French mediation

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – A political and military delegation from northeastern Syria arrived on Wednesday in Damascus for talks with officials from the Syrian transitional government, held under American and French sponsorship.

A source familiar with the matter told North Press that the meetings will include the Commander in Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, the U.S. Special Envoy to Syria, Thomas Barrack, and representatives from the French government.

This visit follows a previous meeting on June 1, when a delegation from the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) held talks in Damascus with officials from the Syrian transitional government. That meeting focused on discussing the terms of the agreement reached between Syrian Transitional President Ahmad al-Sharaa and SDF Commander Abdi.

The current round of talks aims to advance political dialogue and implement the provisions of the March 10 agreement signed between al-Sharaa and Abdi. The agreement outlines a framework for cooperation and coordination during Syria’s transitional phase.

Earlier, on April 12, the SDF announced the formation of a negotiation committee tasked with representing northeastern Syria in discussions with the government in Damascus.
