SDF foils ISIS attack in Deir ez-Zor for third consecutive day

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Monday that they had thwarted an attack by Islamic State (ISIS) cells on a military position in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

In a statement, the SDF said, “For the third consecutive day, our forces have successfully repelled ISIS cells’ attacks targeting our military positions in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.”

The statement added that SDF forces foiled a terrorist attack carried out by an ISIS cell on a military post in the village of Sabha.

According to the SDF, the attackers opened fire as they passed the outpost, prompting SDF fighters to respond immediately and engage in a direct clash with the militants.

The SDF noted that the cell members fired indiscriminately, resulting in the injury of a civilian who happened to be in the area at the time.
