Fire in ammunition depot kills 3 General Security members in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Three members of the Syrian General Security were killed and several others injured on Saturday evening after a fire broke out at a security headquarters in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A security source told North Press that the incident occurred in the town of al-Jalaa, adding that three General Security personnel—Omar Sarhan al-Hatroush, Abd al-Rahman Muhammad al-Hammad, and Muhammad Yasser al-Ahrash—were killed instantly at the scene.
The fire reportedly started when a barrel of diesel caught fire, rapidly spreading flames toward an ammunition depot within the headquarters.
According to the source, the fire triggered a series of explosions caused by the ignition of stored ammunition, resulting in additional injuries and destruction.
Firefighting and civil defense teams responded to contain the blaze. The injured were transported to hospitals in Deir ez-Zor for urgent medical care.
