SDF thwarts 2 attacks in Hasakah, Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Tuesday that they had thwarted two separate attacks targeting their positions in the countryside of Hasakah and Deir ez-Zor in northeastern Syria.

According to an official statement, SDF units intercepted a suspicious vehicle in the town of Markada, in southern Hasakah. Inside the car, they discovered weapons and ammunition-filled magazines.

Following the stop, two armed individuals on a motorcycle opened fire on the checkpoint using a machine gun, but quickly fled the scene after SDF forces returned fire.

The statement confirmed that the incident resulted in material damage only, with no injuries reported among SDF personnel.

In a separate incident, a suspected Islamic State (ISIS) cell attacked an SDF patrol in the town of Suwaydan in eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside. This attack also led to material damage, the SDF said, without detailing the extent of the losses.
