Two injured in shooting, oil investor’s home attacked in Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Two civilians were wounded on Sunday night due to an attack by unidentified gunmen in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.

A local source told North Press that Omar al-Mohammad, 30, and Ahmad al-Dakheel, 32, sustained gunshot wounds while walking along the main road in the town of Baghouz in the far eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

The victims were transported to al-Kaysom Hospital in the nearby city of Hajin, where medical staff confirmed they were in stable condition.

In a separate incident the same night, unidentified armed men, believed to be affiliated with the Islamic State (ISIS), launched an attack on the home of Yazan al-Hefl, a local oil well investor in the town of Dhiban, also in the east of Deir ez-Zor.

The assailants reportedly used an RPG (rocket-propelled grenade) and heavy machine guns during the assault, which resulted in material damage to the property.

No injuries were reported, and the attackers fled the scene before security forces arrived.
