SDF captures ISIS operative facilitating smuggling from Hawl Camp
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Friday that they had successfully apprehended a key member of an ISIS sleeper cell involved in smuggling terrorist operatives, particularly foreign women affiliated with the extremist group, from Hawl Camp in northeastern Syria.
In an official statement, the operation was conducted on Thursday by the SDF’s Military Operations Teams (MOT) and support from the Global Coalition. It targeted an ISIS operative in the region.
The operation took place in the village of al-Tuwimin near the city of Shaddadi, southeast of Hasakah. The arrested individual, identified as Zaher al-Keidi al-Fayan, also known as Abu Ghazi, was actively engaged in smuggling ISIS-affiliated individuals from the Hawl Camp.
During the raid, the SDF forces seized various weapons and military equipment, including two Kalashnikov rifles, ten magazines, and a military scope.
Last week, the SDF announced the capture of Salah Abdullah al-Abed, also known as Abu Azawi, an Iraqi national responsible for ISIS financial transactions inside the Hawl Camp.
