Nationwide internet outage hits Syria due to cable damage

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Syria experienced on Tuesday a major internet outage due to fiber optic damage in Homs and Damascus countryside.

The Syrian Ministry of Communications said that a nationwide internet outage was caused by damage to fiber optic cables in the Hassia area of Homs countryside and the city of Maaloula in Damascus countryside.

Earlier in the day, social media users reported widespread internet disruptions across multiple Syrian governorates.

The ministry confirmed that the outage had significantly impacted services in several regions and stated that technical teams were immediately dispatched to repair the damage and restore connectivity as quickly as possible.
