Over 1,000 Killed and Injured as Israeli Airstrikes Resume in Gaza

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – At least 412 Palestinians were killed and over 500 injured, including many in critical condition, as Israeli airstrikes pounded Gaza early Tuesday, the Hamas-run Ministry of Health reported. The toll is expected to rise as rescue teams struggle to retrieve victims from the rubble.
The sudden resumption of hostilities comes after two months of ceasefire, raising fears of another prolonged conflict in the besieged enclave. The intensity of the strikes has severely hampered emergency response efforts, with medics reporting difficulties in reaching targeted areas due to ongoing bombardment.
Gaza’s government media office warned that many casualties remain trapped under collapsed buildings, while a lack of fuel has brought the transportation network to a standstill, further complicating rescue efforts. Hospitals, already overwhelmed and struggling with shortages of medical supplies due to the Israeli blockade, have issued urgent calls for blood donations.
“The humanitarian situation in Gaza is deteriorating at an alarming rate,” a local health official told North Press. “We are dealing with a disaster as supplies run low and casualties keep rising.”
The renewed Israeli offensive has drawn widespread international condemnation. United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres expressed his “shock” at the escalation and urged all parties to adhere to the ceasefire. “A return to full-scale conflict will only deepen the humanitarian catastrophe,” a UN spokesperson said.
Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced the airstrikes as a “flagrant violation” of the ceasefire agreement, warning that the escalation could destabilize the broader region. Similarly, Turkey condemned the attacks as part of Israel’s “policy of extermination” against Palestinians, calling for immediate international intervention.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin voiced concern over the renewed hostilities, with spokesperson Dmitry Peskov warning that “another cycle of escalation” could lead to a broader regional conflict.
The resurgence of violence in Gaza threatens to derail diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving long-term stability. With tensions at an all-time high and humanitarian conditions worsening, the coming days will be critical in determining whether the region descends into another prolonged war or if international pressure can push for de-escalation.
