Syria reaches agreement to integrate Suwayda institutions into state

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – A senior government official in Damascus revealed on Tuesday that Syria’s Transitional President, Ahmad al-Sharaa, reached an agreement with representatives from Suwayda to integrate the governorate’s institutions and security apparatus into the Syrian state.

Under the terms of the agreement with Suwayda representatives, the local security forces will be placed under the Syrian Ministry of Interior, while local police forces will be composed of personnel from Suwayda itself.

According to the government official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the Syrian government will appoint both the governor and the police chief, with no requirement for them to be from Suwayda.

This agreement marks a significant step toward reintegrating various regions into the Syrian state structure, as Damascus continues efforts to restore national unity and administrative cohesion.
