France “strongly” condemns violence against civilians in western Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – French Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed on Saturday its deep concern over the serious violence that has occurred in Syria in recent days in the coastal governorates.
In a statement, the ministry strongly condemned the atrocities committed against civilians on a sectarian basis, as well as against prisoners.
It called on the Syrian caretaker government to ensure that independent investigations are conducted to fully uncover the truth behind these crimes and that those responsible are brought to justice.
The French ministry reaffirmed its commitment to a peaceful and inclusive political transition, free from foreign interference, that safeguards Syria’s ethnic and religious pluralism.
It assured that the peaceful and inclusive political transition is the only way to prevent the country from descending into fragmentation and further violence, adding that France will spare no effort in this regard.
