DEIR EZ-ZR, Syria (North Press) – Two members of the General Security forces of the caretaker government were killed on Saturday evening in a series of unidentified attacks targeting security posts and checkpoints in Deir ez-Zor countryside, eastern Syria.
A security source said that gunmen on motorcycles attacked the al-Baloum checkpoint at the entrance to al-Mayadin, resulting in the death of General Security officer Abdul Aziz al-Rifai.
In a separate incident, unknown assailants armed with silenced pistols targeted security personnel at the al-Fatisa checkpoint, killing General Security officer Ibrahim al-Huwayli, the source told North Press.
Additionally, two other attacks struck General Security posts in Buqrus and al-Ashara, also in the eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside, though they only caused material damage.
