Armed attack in Syria’s Latakia kills 2 General Security members

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – An armed attack killed on Tuesday two members of the General Security and injured several others in the city of Latakia, western Syria.

The General Security had launched a large-scale security operation across Latakia on Monday evening.

Mustafa Knaifati, Director of the General Security in Latakia, stated that “a group of remnants of the regime ambushed and fatally targeted two personnel from the Syrian Ministry of Defense in the al-Datur neighborhood.”

Knaifati added that after receiving the report, security forces swiftly mobilized, gathered intelligence, and tracked down a member of the criminal cell before launching an immediate raid on their hideout.

During the operation, the assailants threw grenades at security forces, wounding several officers. In response, security units engaged the attackers, arresting multiple suspects.
