Israeli FM: “Our Interest Lies in a Quiet Border with Syria”

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar stated on Tuesday that Israel’s priority regarding Syria is maintaining a calm border, rather than territorial concerns.
Since the fall of the Assad regime, Israel has expanded its presence in southern Syria. Most recently, on Monday night, Israeli forces reportedly conducted an incursion in central Quneitra, with unconfirmed reports of an airborne operation near the administrative border of Daraa and Quneitra.
Earlier today, residents of Sweida burned an Israeli flag after unidentified individuals raised it at the city’s entrance.
Sa’ar emphasized that the presence of Islamist groups along Israel’s borders poses a severe threat. He also underlined the need to fully respect the rights of minorities in Syria, including the Kurds.
“We will not allow an attack similar to October 7 from any front,” he warned.
