Israeli forces conduct incursion in southern Syria

QUNEITRA, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces carried out on Monday night a ground incursion in the central countryside of Quneitra, southern Syria, with reports suggesting a possible airborne operation near the administrative border between Daraa and Quneitra.

Local sources said, Israeli military vehicles, including heavy machinery, entered the town of Mashara, cutting off the road between Mashara and Tayha.

The incursion coincided with the presence of Israeli reconnaissance drones and helicopters in the area.

In a related development, unconfirmed reports indicated that Israeli forces conducted an airborne landing operation on Tel al-Mal, a strategic hill on the border between Daraa and Quneitra.

No official confirmation has been made regarding the operation, according to the sources.

The incident comes amid ongoing tensions between Israel and Syria. On February, U.N. spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric expressed concerns over what he described as Israel’s “continued violations” of Syrian sovereignty and territorial integrity.
