Situation stabilizes near Damascus following clashes – Druze leader
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Sheikh Laith al-Balous, leader of the Men of Dignity movement, stated on Saturday that the recent clashes in Jaramana, south of Damascus, were not with the General Security forces but rather erupted due to a personal dispute.
In a press statement, al-Balous reiterated that the situation in Jaramana’s outskirts is gradually stabilizing. He also emphasized, “We do not need external guardianship; our goal is a united Syria.”
Over the past two days, Jaramana has experienced heightened tension and sporadic clashes between armed groups and General Security forces, resulting in injuries among security personnel.
Meanwhile, in a related development, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office issued directives to the army to ensure the protection of Jaramana’s Druze residents, warning that any harm inflicted on the Druze community by Syrian authorities will be met with retaliation.
