SDC co-chair stresses need for Syrian unity, dialogue on future governance

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – Layla Qaraman, Co-Chair of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) stated on Tuesday that the current period presents a crucial opportunity for Syrians to unite and make decisive choices about the country’s future following the decline of the previous regime.

Speaking to North Press on the sidelines of a dialogue forum in Raqqa, which brought together political figures and entities from across Syria, Qaraman highlighted the importance of this transitional phase saying, “Syrians are in a delicate transitional period and remain divided.”

“We must rally together and engage in dialogue to build a Syria that belongs to all its people,” she said.

She emphasized that, under the former regime, Syrians lacked a secure political environment to convene and make decisions in the best interest of their country.

“Today, the conditions are more favorable for Syrians to come together and determine their future collectively,” she noted.

The SDC co-chair underscored the necessity of strengthening national unity and establishing a continuous and inclusive intra-Syrian dialogue.

She further stressed the need to redefine the concept of a unifying Syrian identity while also focusing on the future structure of governance in the country.
