DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Jordan has started exporting 500 tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) per day to Syria, according to local Syrian media reports on Wednesday. The move is part of growing economic cooperation between Amman and the new Syrian administration.
Jordan Confirms Gas Shipments to Syria
The CEO of Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company, Hassan al-Hayari, confirmed that gas exports to Syria began 10 days ago, with daily shipments amounting to 500 tons.
His statement came during a meeting held earlier today between Hayari and Hitham Zayadin, head of the Energy and Mineral Resources Committee in the Jordanian Parliament, along with several lawmakers. The discussions focused on regional energy cooperation and Jordan’s role in supporting Syria’s economic recovery.
New Phase of Economic Ties
Since the fall of Syria’s previous government, Jordan has expressed its intention to cooperate with the new Syrian administration and support economic recovery efforts. Energy trade is seen as a key sector for rebuilding ties between the two countries after years of strained relations.
The deal marks one of the first major energy agreements between Jordan and the new Syrian leadership, signaling a potential expansion of economic and trade relations in the near future.
