KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – A Turkish drone strike killed two people and injured two others in central Kobani, northern Syria, on Wednesday, amid ongoing Turkish military operations in the region.
Turkey has repeatedly carried out air and artillery strikes on northern Syria, including populated areas, while recently escalating threats of a ground invasion.
Fatal Strike in City Center
According to a medical source speaking to North Press, the victims have been identified as Shiro Abid Mishid and Azad Hussein Ali, both of whom died instantly due to the impact of the strike. A man and a woman were also wounded, though their medical conditions remain unclear.
The attack targeted a building in central Kobani, raising further concerns about civilian casualties and the escalation of hostilities in the area.
No Official Response Yet
As of the time of reporting, neither the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) nor the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) had issued an official statement regarding the airstrike.
The strike is part of a wider pattern of Turkish military actions in northern Syria, with Ankara justifying its operations by claiming to target armed groups it considers threats. However, local officials and human rights organizations warn that these attacks are disproportionately affecting civilians and vital infrastructure.
