Unidentified gunmen target SDF in 2 separate attacks in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Unidentified gunmen carried out on Saturday two separate attacks targeting a military vehicle and a fighter of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A military source close to the SDF reported that two gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on an SDF military vehicle using a machine gun on the main road in the town of Suwar, north of Deir ez-Zor.
The attack resulted in the injury of two SDF fighters and significant damage to the vehicle.
In another incident in the village of Abu al-Nitel, in the same area, two unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle targeted Ayham al-Mohammed, an SDF fighter, while he was riding his motorcycle through the village.
The attack left him injured, and he was transferred to a hospital for medical treatment.
On Jan. 6, ISIS cells attacked an SDF military base in a town in the east of Deir ez-Zor, highlighting the persistent threats posed by ISIS remnants in the region.
