Mazloum Abdi discusses ISIS, NE Syria ceasefire with Coalition leaders

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – Mazloum Abdi, Commander in Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), said on Friday that he held discussions with American leaders from the U.S.-led Global Coalition regarding efforts to combat the Islamic State (ISIS) and to establish a lasting ceasefire in northeastern Syria.

In a statement shared on X, Abdi confirmed his meeting with General Kurilla, alongside General Laehy Kevin, commander of the Joint Task Force for Operation Inherent Resolve, and General Michael Brooks, commander of the Joint Special Operations Task Force in the Levant.

Two days earlier, the U.S. Central Command announced that its commander, General Michael Kurilla, had visited Syria and Iraq to meet with American forces stationed in both countries.

Abdi described the meeting as a critical opportunity to evaluate the current situation in Syria and to coordinate joint operations against ISIS.

The discussions also highlighted the necessity of international efforts to rehabilitate families residing in the Hawl camp and to improve prison security.

Abdi emphasized the importance of strengthening the partnership between the SDF and the United States, particularly the role of American forces in achieving a lasting ceasefire in northeastern Syria and in promoting stability and security across the region.
