Turkish strikes kill man, 2 girls in Kobani

KOBANI, Syria (North Press) –Turkish airstrike targeted on Saturday evening the countryside of Kobani, northern Syria, killing three people and injuring seven others, including children.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) condemned the strike on the village of al-Masrab, south of Kobani, accusing Turkey of committing a “horrific massacre” by targeting a civilian home with its airstrikes.

The airstrike on al-Masrab resulted in the deaths of two young girls and their father, while five other family members were injured.

The victims were identified as Ismail Hussein Mustafa (37), and his two girls Fatima (12) and Aisha (13).

The injured family members include Hussein Ismail Mustafa (10), Khuloud (8), Iman (5), Ali (2), and Bahriya (1).

In addition, the SDF’s statement added that Turkish warplanes and drones launched relentless attacks on the villages and populated areas around Kobani, including the Tishrin Dam.

Meanwhile, two displaced children, Jassem Ali al-Shawakh (12), and Hani (16), sustained serious shrapnel injuries to the abdomen when a shell struck their home in the village of Bir Heso, southwest of Kobani.

The artillery shelling was carried out by Turkish-backed armed factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA).

The injured boys were rushed to al-Amal Hospital in Kobani, where they underwent emergency surgery. They are currently receiving intensive care as they recover from their injuries.

Ali al-Shawakh, the children’s father, told North Press that his family had fled their home in the village of Qara Qozak, just 20 days earlier due to escalating violence and continued Turkish shelling in the area.
