Kurdish-led SDF Offers Security Cooperation With New Syrian Administration

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) extended an offer on Saturday to cooperate with the new Syrian administration in Damascus on security issues. The proposal aims to uncover the truth behind recent bombings and dismantle networks responsible for planting explosives in Aleppo and other areas.

In a statement released by the SDF, the force declared its readiness to collaborate with Damascus’ security apparatuses, stating, “To uncover the facts, our forces are willing to work with relevant authorities in Damascus to investigate and identify the true perpetrators behind the bombings and vehicle-borne explosives targeting areas such as Aleppo.”

Tensions Over Allegations

The SDF’s offer follows accusations from Syria’s Ministry of Interior. On Friday, the ministry reported that the General Security Directorate, in coordination with military intelligence, intercepted a car bomb allegedly coming from SDF-controlled territories toward Aleppo.

In response, the SDF rejected the allegations, describing them as “hasty, unfounded, and lacking transparent investigations.”

Claims of Opposition Involvement

The SDF’s statement pointed to factions affiliated with Turkish-backed opposition groups operating in territories separating SDF-controlled areas from Aleppo as the likely culprits.

“These factions have a vested interest in undermining security and stability while sabotaging the positive atmosphere surrounding ongoing dialogue between our forces and Damascus’ military operations command,” the SDF noted.

A Call for Transparency

The SDF underscored the importance of transparent investigations to avoid fueling tensions. They reiterated their commitment to ensuring stability in Syria and combating threats to peace in coordination with all relevant stakeholders.

Observers view the SDF’s proposal for security cooperation as a strategic move to counter accusations while reinforcing its role as a key player in Syria’s security landscape.

The situation underscores the complexities of ongoing negotiations between the SDF and the new administration in Damascus, as both parties navigate challenges to establish trust and collaboration amidst a volatile security environment.
