Israeli forces expand presence in southern Syria
QUNEITRA, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces expanded on Saturday their presence in the Quneitra countryside, southern Syria, leveling agricultural land in the area.
Local sources told the Daraa 24 local news website that Israeli forces had infiltrated the western outskirts of Mu’allaqa, a village in southern Quneitra. They noted that Israeli bulldozers had constructed a road leading to the Golan Heights border.
On Friday, Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the Israeli forces plan to establish a 15-kilometer-long control zone inside Syrian territory, along with an intelligence influence area extending approximately 60 kilometers.
Earlier last week, Israeli forces entered the town of al-Isha in southern Quneitra with a convoy of military vehicles and tanks, enforcing a curfew in the area.
Since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime on Dec. 8, 2024, Israeli forces have consistently entered Syrian territory in Quneitra, conducting numerous airstrikes on weapons depots and military equipment formerly controlled by the regime.
