Turkish airstrikes target key areas in northern Syria
KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Friday evening that Turkish warplanes carried out multiple airstrikes on the countryside of Kobani, the Tishrin Dam, and its surrounding areas in northern Syria.
The Turkish warplanes targeted grain silos in Sirrin, south of Kobani, twice, while the Tishrin Dam region and the eastern outskirts of Manbij were shelled with dozens of artillery rounds.
In response, the SDF announced that the Manbij Military Council, a key component of the SDF, destroyed a military vehicle during its defense against an attack by Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), on villages near the Tishrin Dam.
In Hasakah Governorate, Turkish drones conducted airstrikes near the town of the city of Derik (al-Malikiyah).
According to the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish), the strikes targeted the Kocharat area, Mount Qarachokh, and several villages, including Shirak and Khanasor.
The Asayish confirmed in a statement that the strikes hit a civilian vehicle in the village of Khanasor and resulted in the killing of two civilians and the injury if another.
On Friday, SDF Commander-in-Chief Mazloum Abdi told Sky News Arabia that while the SDF remains committed to the ceasefire agreement with Turkey, it reserves the right to defend itself against aggression.
