Military Operations Command orders surrender of weapons in south Syria
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Military Operations Command issued on Thursday a directive requiring all weapon holders, both military and civilian, in Quneitra’s countryside, southern Syria, to surrender their weapons within 24 hours.
A local source told North Press that Israeli forces entered the town of Jaba accompanied by several military vehicles and tanks.
The town of Al-Asha in southern Quneitra witnessed an incursion by the Israeli forces on Wednesday. The Israeli forces imposed a curfew in the area during the operation.
In its notice, the Military Operations Command warned that failure to comply with the weapon surrender order would result in strict legal consequences, emphasizing the importance of maintaining security and stability in the region.
The deadline for surrendering weapons begins at 08:00 AM on Thursday.
Meanwhile, during a U.N. Security Council session on Wednesday, Syrian Ambassador to the United Nations, Qusai al-Dahak, called for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from recently occupied areas in Syria and an end to their aggressive actions against its people.
Al-Dahak stressed that Syria reaffirms the need to ensure that Israel does not exploit the current situation to expand its violations of Syrian territory, particularly in the Mount Hermon and Quneitra.
