Turkish forces intensify shelling in Kobani
KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – Turkish forces and their affiliated armed factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), escalated on Sunday their military activities by shelling multiple locations in the countryside of Kobani in northern Syria.
The targeted areas included Barkal Hill, the vicinity of the Qaraqozaq Bridge, and the silos in Sirrin town, situated south of Kobani.
Explosions were reportedly heard in the city of Kobani, stemming from the bombardment of nearby rural sites, according to North Press correspondent.
Details about potential casualties or the extent of material damage remain unclear at this time.
The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
This development comes amid Turkey’s ongoing threats to launch a new military operation in northern Syria. On Saturday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reaffirmed his intentions to “take steps in the new year to secure [Turkey’s] borders,” signaling a continuation of Ankara’s assertive approach in the region.
