Iranian FM: Syria Faces an Uncertain Future Post-Assad
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned on Wednesday of an uncertain future for Syria following the recent ousting of longtime president Bashar al-Assad.
Speaking to the Iranian Students’ News Agency (ISNA), Araghchi said, “It is too early to judge Syria’s future, as many factors could significantly influence the political situation there.”
He added, “Those who currently believe they have achieved definitive victories should not celebrate prematurely.”
On Tuesday, the caretaker Syrian government’s Foreign Ministry issued a warning to Iran against “spreading chaos” in the country.
This came after Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei delivered a speech on Sunday urging Syrian youth to “stand strong and resolute against those who orchestrated and executed this security breakdown.”
Meanwhile, protests erupted in Alawite-majority areas this evening after a video showing the burning of a prominent religious shrine in Aleppo surfaced.
