Russia Rejects Ceasefire with Ukraine, Demands Binding Agreements

MOSCOW, Russia (North Press) – On Wednesday, Russia, through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced its rejection of any ceasefire agreement with Ukraine.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated, “A ceasefire is not suitable for us; we need reliable, legally binding agreements that address the root causes of the conflict, including European security, the halt of NATO expansion, and the rights of residents in Ukrainian regions that have chosen to return to Russia.”

Lavrov emphasized the need to respect the linguistic and religious rights that were banned by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, adding that these rights should be upheld across all of Ukraine. He further pointed out that Western powers and Ukraine were calling for a ceasefire only to buy time.

“They want a ceasefire to allow the Kiev regime to regain its strength with Western support, then launch new attempts to carry out their masters’ instructions to deliver a strategic defeat to Russia,” he added.

In related news, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported the elimination of 230 Ukrainian soldiers in the Kursk region over the past 24 hours, with a total of 43,740 Ukrainian casualties, along with the destruction of hundreds of tanks, armored vehicles, and other Western weaponry, according to Russian state media reports.
