Turkish-backed shelling kills woman, her daughter in Kobani

KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – A Turkish-backed artillery attack on Sunday claimed the lives of a woman and her young daughter in Kobani in northern Syria.

The victims, identified as Sawsan Khalaf, 35, and her daughter Nasim Khalaf, 12, succumbed to severe injuries caused by shrapnel from the shelling of the Turkish bombardment on the village of Ja’da in Kobani countryside.

A medical source told North Press that the two were already deceased upon arrival at al-Amal Hospital in Kobani, their injuries proving fatal before they could receive treatment.

The Turkish forces and their affiliated factions have intensified their attacks in northern Syria, with frequent artillery strikes and drone operations targeting civilian areas.

These assaults have resulted in dozens of deaths and injuries, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the region.
