Syria’s Kurdish Region Condemns the Deadly Attack in Magdeburg, Germany
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, the ِAutonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) expressed deep condolences to the German people following the tragic vehicle attack in Magdeburg, Germany, that resulted in at least 11 fatalities and around 80 injuries.
The attack took place when a driver deliberately crashed into a Christmas market in the city of Magdeburg, central Germany. The police apprehended the suspect shortly after the incident.
In an official statement, the Self-Administration said: “With great sadness, we received the devastating news of the deliberate vehicle attack that targeted German citizens in the city of Magdeburg as Christmas festivities approach.”
The statement went on to condemn the act, emphasizing that the Self-Administration strongly rejects any form of extremism and terrorism. “We strongly condemn these criminal acts that target civilians in Germany and in all other safe countries,” the statement read.
The Self-Administration also recognized the German government’s historical support for their cause. “The German government and its people have been among the first to support the Self-Administration. In this difficult time, we express our solidarity with you and reaffirm our commitment to working together to combat extremism, terrorism, and all threats to regional and international security,” the statement concluded.
This attack, which coincided with the festive season, has shaken the local community in Magdeburg, with authorities and citizens alike mourning the victims of this senseless violence. The condolences and messages of support from various international actors, including the Self-Administration of North and East Syria, highlight the global condemnation of such attacks and the importance of unity in fighting terrorism.
