Turkey’s Manbij strike disrupts hopes for Syria’s solution – Ilham Ahmad

MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) – Amid growing optimism for a political resolution to the Syrian conflict, Turkey launched a heavy drone attack on the northern city of Manbij, said Ilham Ahmad, co-chair of the Foreign Relations Department of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) on Sunday.

The assault has resulted in civilian casualties and caused significant damage to critical infrastructure, according to local sources.

The attack has raised alarms about its intent to occupy Manbij, Ilham Ahmad added. “Turkey disrupted it with a heavy drone attack, supported by its militias, aiming to occupy Manbij.”

This escalation comes at a time when many Syrians had begun to hope for a breakthrough in the country’s long-stalled political process.

Ilham Ahmad urged the international community to take immediate action to stop Turkey’s aggression and protect the lives and rights of innocent civilians.
