HTS announces advancing in Homs amid clashes in central Syria
HOMS, Syria (North Press) – Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, once known as al-Nusra Front) announced late on Friday that it is advancing in the countryside of Hama and Homs in central Syria, claiming control over the last remaining village and positioning itself on the verge of entering the city.
Reports from opposition-affiliated media indicate that airstrikes and intense government shelling targeted the town of Talbiseh and the town of Dar al-Kabirah in northern Homs, resulting in at least 22 fatalities and injuring more than 100 people.
Meanwhile, government media, citing military sources, reported that the government forces, with support from Russian airpower, conducted a “special operation” targeting Dar al-Kabirah, Talbiseh, and Rastan in northern Homs.
They claimed significant gains, stating that dozens of HTS militants were killed, their vehicles and weapons destroyed, and that the group was thrown into a state of panic and disarray, with many fleeing the area.
