Israeli airstrike in Syria kills senior Hezbollah leader
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – An Israeli airstrike on Friday in Syria assassinated a senior Hezbollah leader who had attacked a U.S. base and participated in the kidnapping and killing of five soldiers, an American defense official told NBC News.
The NBC News clarified that the leader, “Ali Musa Daqduq,” had helped plan “one of the boldest and most sophisticated attacks” carried out against U.S. forces during the Iraq War.
Daqduq was arrested by U.S. forces after a 2007 attack in which he and a group of militants, disguised as an American security team, killed five U.S. soldiers. However, the Iraqi government released him later in 2011.
