Syrian opposition urges action on detainees, ceasefires
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Opposition Negotiations Commission urged on Wednesday the international community to intensify pressure on the Syrian government to release detainees, establish ceasefires in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria, and enforce relevant U.N. Security Council resolutions.
In its final statement following a regular meeting in Geneva from Nov. 17 to 20, the commission addressed key developments in Syria, progress in the political process, and other issues critical to the Syrian crisis.
The statement stressed “the importance of the international community fulfilling its commitments to pressure the Syrian regime to release detainees and uncover the fate of the missing.”
Additionally, the commission condemned recent Israeli airstrikes on Idlib and Aleppo, which resulted in civilian deaths and injuries, calling for accountability and the protection of civilians.
