AANES condemns Turkish strikes, calls for global action

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) condemned on Thursday the latest military assaults by Turkish forces on north and northeast Syria.

In a statement, the AANES described the Turkish strikes as egregious war crimes and flagrant violations of international law.

The attacks, which deliberately targeted unarmed civilians – including women and children – are seen as calculated attempts to undermine the region’s stability and break the will of its people to resist, the AANES said.

In a strongly worded statement, the AANES accused Turkey of disguising its aggressive actions with rhetoric about peace, highlighting the stark contrast between Turkish claims of wanting to end the war and their ongoing bombardment of villages, cities, and key infrastructure.

The AANES appealed to the international community, including the Global Coalition and Russian forces, to take immediate and decisive action.

The statement concluded by warning that the ongoing international inaction only emboldens Turkey to continue its aggression, calling for global solidarity in confronting Turkish state terrorism and defending the rights and safety of the Syrian people.

On Thursday dawn, the Turkish forces conducted a series of strikes on several towns and cities of north and northeast Syria including Tel Rifaat, Manbij, Kobani, and Qamishli. The strikes left casualties among civilians and destroyed a number of infrastructure facilities.
