Iraqi forces kill 9 senior ISIS leaders in northern Iraq
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani announced on Tuesday that Iraqi forces killed nine prominent leaders of the Islamic State (ISIS) in northern Iraq.
Al-Sudani stated in a post on X platform that Iraqi forces killed the so-called “Wali of Iraq” and eight senior ISIS leaders during an operation in the Hamrin Mountains in northern Iraq.
Al-Sudani confirmed that the mission was executed by the Counter-Terrorism Service and the National Security Service, under the supervision of the Joint Operations Command.
The Joint Operations Command also issued a statement noting that the operation was carried out with technical assistance and precise intelligence sharing from the U.S.-led Global Coalition on Tuesday at dawn.
The statement added that nine ISIS members were killed, including Jassim al-Mazrouei Abu Abdel Qader, the so-called “Wali of Iraq.”
Additional names of top ISIS leaders will be revealed after detailed DNA tests are completed, according to the statement.
