Suspected ISIS attacks target oil tankers in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Gunmen, suspected to be affiliated with the Islamic State (ISIS), launched on Saturday two attacks on oil tankers in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A local source told North Press that the attackers utilized a guided missile to strike a convoy of oil tankers traveling along the main road in the town of al-Ozba in the east of Deir ez-Zor.
The assault resulted in significant damage to one tanker, causing its cargo to spill onto the roadway.
In a separate incident, gunmen opened fire on two oil tankers in the desert area near the town of al-Dahla in eastern Deir ez-Zor.
Both tankers sustained damage before the attackers fled into the desert.
On Sep. 10, two individuals riding a motorcycle, believed to be affiliated with ISIS, attacked oil tankers near the desert in al-Dahla.
The attack caused substantial material damage and rendered the tankers inoperable.
Recently, ISIS attacks against oil tankers increased, indicating a renewed focus on disrupting oil transport in the area.
