Pentagon takes Iran-backed threats in Syria, Iraq “seriously”
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A senior U.S. Department of State official stressed on Tuesday that the government is taking the threat of Iranian-backed militias in Syria and Iraq very seriously.
During a press briefing, Pentagon Press Secretary Brig. Gen. Patrick Ryder emphasized that the U.S. will not stand for any attacks on its forces stationed in these regions.
Ryder pointed out that there have been unsuccessful attempts by these militias to launch rocket attacks targeting Israel.
He further highlighted the ongoing assaults on U.S. forces in Syria and Iraq, which are linked to America’s mission to ensure the enduring defeat of ISIS.
In a strong warning, Ryder made it clear that any threat or attack on U.S. personnel would be met with a decisive response at a time and place of their choosing.
