Turkish escalation pushes region towards open war – AANES

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) stated on Monday that the recent Turkish escalation is pushing the region towards an “open war.”

The statement came following a Turkish strike that targeted the Heart and Eye Hospital in the city of Qamishli in Northeast Syria, resulting in the killing and the injury of a number of civilians.

“Once again, Turkey is escalating against our areas, attempting to undermine the stability and retaliate for its failed projects to create discord and chaos, especially in Deir ez-Zor,” the AANES’ statement read.

The escalation reveals Turkish intentions to systematically exterminate people and destabilize the region, disrupting efforts to develop service and health sectors, the statement said in Arabic.

The AANES emphasized the need for human rights and humanitarian organizations, as well as international committees and partners in the fight against terrorism, to act to curb these practices that violate all international laws and norms.
