Kuwaiti delegation in Damascus prepares to restore ties with Syria

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – A Kuwaiti delegation has recently visited Damascus in preparation for the restoration of diplomatic relations with Syria, the semi-official al-Watan newspaper reported on Sunday.

Al-Watan added that a group of Kuwaiti businessmen visited Damascus to explore collaboration opportunities between the two countries.

North Press correspondent said the Kuwaiti embassy building in Damascus had recently undergone renovations amid news of the embassy’s reopening.

Moreover, Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, said on July 26 that Italy decided to appoint an ambassador to Syria “to turn a spotlight” on the country.

This makes Italy the first G7 nation to relaunch its diplomatic mission in Damascus since the start of the Syrian conflict.
