Damascus-Ankara normalization aims targeting AANES
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – An official of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) said on Saturday that the only consensus between Damascus and Ankara is to target the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).
In an exclusive interview with North Press, Ali Rahmoun, deputy co-chair of the SDC, said any normalization with the Syrian “regime” will be at the expense of the Syrian people.
He added that the SDC opposes such policy and supports the recent anti-Turkey protests erupted in northwestern Syria, and the anti-government ones in Suwayda.
Early in July, people in the areas under the control of the Turkish-backed armed opposition, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), in Aleppo northern countryside took to the streets in anti-Turkey protests where they burned the Turkish flag.
Rahmoun pointed out that the issue of normalization is complicated as there are many measures.
The SDC leader expected that the only consensus between Damascus and Ankara it to target the AANES.
