2 ISIS militants killed in Deir ez-Zor while planting IED
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Two militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) were killed on Friday in Deir ez-Zor Governorate in eastern Syria, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said.
The Two ISIS militants were killed while planting an IED in the village of Hawaij of the town of Dhiban, east of Deir ez-Zor, the SDF added.
“The IED was intended to target civilians and military forces, aiming to destabilize security,” the SDF said on its Telegram.
Even though the SDF and the U.S.-led Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS announced defeating the group in March 2019, ISIS remains a threat to the population, as its sleeper cells are still highly active in Deir ez-Zor due to the geographical characteristics of the region.
The SDF continues to carry out its operations against the group and its sleeper cells to confirm the stability and security of the region.
