ISIS militants kill 5 government soldiers in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) attacked on Sunday military checkpoints of the Syrian government forces in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria, killing five soldiers.
A military source of the government forces said ISIS militants launched an attack against checkpoints of the Fourth Armored Division of the government forces at the entrance of the town of Shumaytiyah in the northwestern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
The source told North Press that the attack led to the killing of five soldiers of the Division and the injury of three others.
The attack coincided with the launch of a combing campaign by the government forces to pursue ISIS militants in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, according to a source in the government forces.
On June 7, five soldiers of the government forces were killed in the Syrian Desert in an attack launched by the ISIS militants.
