3 SDF fighters killed in ISIS suicide car bomb in Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Friday three of their fighters were killed in a suicide car bomb carried out by the Islamic State group (ISIS) in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

The SDF Media Center stated an ISIS suicide car bomb exploded in an SDF post in the town of Shuhail in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

Moreover, the attack resulted in the killing of three SDF fighters and the injury of seven others.

The SDF pointed out that while their medical personnel tried to treat and evacuate the wounded to a hospital, the Syrian government forces stationed at the bank of the Euphrates River shot at the medical personnel, resulting in the killing of another SDF fighter.

Deir ez-Zor Governorate is divided by the Euphrates River into two areas of control. The areas located to the west of the River are under the control of the government forces and the Iranian-backed militias, whereas those to the east are held by the SDF.

Iranian-backed militias and armed groups affiliated with the government forces launch constant attacks on SDF posts in the east of the River.
