SDF arrests 2 ISIS members in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Saturday the arrest two members of the Islamic State (ISIS) in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.

The SDF stated via its official website that its forces carried out a series of joint operations with the U.S.-led Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS in areas in the northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

The SDF Media Center said that in the first operation, the SDF captured Khaled al-Khalifa al-Suhail who joined the group at its inception in Deir ez-Zor.

“He [al-Suhail] conducted surveillance and participated in attacks against our SDF forces in Raqqa and Deir Ezzor,” the SDF noted.

According to the SDF statement, al-Suhail fled to Turkey in 2021, to be back to Syria in 2023 and “resumed clandestine activities for ISIS.”

In the second operation, the SDF managed to capture Faisal Muhammad Mubarak, aka Abu Muslim al-Faouri who joined ISIS during its control of Palmyra and the Homs countryside, the SDF indicated.
