3 government-linked militants found dead in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The bodies of three militants of the National Defense Forces (NDF), affiliated with the Syrian government forces, were found on Monday with visible gunshot wounds in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

A military source told North Press that three NDF militants were shot while stationed in their post in the al-Haydariya area near the town of al-Mayadin in the southeast of Deir ez-Zor.

The source pointed out that unknown individuals assassinated the three militants hours after they reached work, adding that all of them hailed from the village of Hatla in the east of Deir ez-Zor.

The source said the three NDF militants were Bashar Jabr al-Zaghir, Muhammad Turki al-Zaghir, and Hakim al-Jadan.

So far, no party has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Areas in Deir ez-Zor Governorate located to the west of the Euphrates River are under the control of the government forces and the Iranian-backed militias. These areas witness intensive attacks, mostly by the Islamic State (ISIS) sleeper cells.
