Italy sues 2 Syrians for involving in terrorist activities

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Italy sentenced on Wednesday two citizens of Syrian origin to five years and six months in prison for involving in international terrorist activities.

The State Police of Sassari arrested the two Syrians who had received arrest warrants issued by the Attorney General of the Republic at the Court of Appeal of Sassari for affiliation with international terrorist activities.

Between 2014 and 2018, the two were engaged in financial transactions between Italy and Syria in both directions in favor of Syrian fighting groups opposing the Syrian government.

These groups are believed to have employed tactics in their conflict that involve the indiscriminate use of violence, without regard for the presence of unarmed civilians, and accepting the unintended consequences of direct violence. This information has been revealed through investigations conducted under the guidance of deputy prosecutors from the District Anti-Mafia and Anti-Terrorism Directorate of Cagliari.

Nevertheless, due to their detention in a state of precautionary custody, they are expected to serve a sentence of around one year and six months at Bancali prison.
